2023 has been the year of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and it’s not looking like it’s slowing down anytime soon.
One of the biggest discoveries this year is OpenAI, which launched Chat GPT in late November 2022 and has since then taken the whole world by storm. Chat GPT is an AI chatbot that is developed to help with detailed responses to a wide variety of questions. In short, you can have a detailed conversation with Chat GPT, ask for tips and tricks, and use it to learn about certain subjects.
Chat GPT was quickly discovered by the community and went viral in a matter of days. Because of the detailed and varied responses, you can get from Chat GPT, it has quickly become the go-to chatbot and has many use cases both for private users and companies.

With Chat GPT having reached mainstream adoption this fast, it’s constantly improved by the team behind it. The newest upgrade to the AI will be GPT-4, which will be the system’s most advanced update yet – providing users with safer and more useful responses, according to OpenAI themselves.
So we already know how GPT-3 can be, and to some, it might be hard to imagine that it can get even better this fast. But GPT-4 is, in fact, looking to be a big upgrade from what we are used to with GPT-3. Let’s look at some of the big differences.
You will find that GPT-4 will basically be GPT-3 but on steroids. The new update allows the chatbot to provide much more advanced responses and is also more useful for the user. Expect that GPT-4 will be more detailed and able to answer more complex questions and challenges.
OpenAI says GPT4 can “solve difficult problems with greater accuracy, thanks to its broader general knowledge and problem solving abilities.”
Some of the areas that OpenAI has focused on improving is the bots’ ability to be more creative and collaborative than before. This means that it can now generate, edit, and even iterate on creative writing tasks. This improved style of writing can be useful for songs, movie/theater scripts, and much more.

Another interesting improved area is GPT-4’s ability to accept visual input and work based on that. Users will be able to place a picture of certain food ingredients, and the bot can give ideas as to what you can cook with those exact ingredients. Visual input is still an unexplored area for ChatGPT, so the upcoming months will likely showcase how many uses there are for technology like this.
A third thing that many have probably wanted while using GPT-3 is longer answers and deeper context to the questions. With GPT-4, this will be improved immensely as GPT-4 will be “capable of handling over 25,000 words of text, allowing for use cases like long form content creation, extended conversations, and document search and analysis,” according to OpenAI.
These are the three big improvements for GPT-4, but there’s a lot more to it than just that. While GPT-4 will improve on some key areas, this new update just keeps giving.

Additionally to the features stated above, GPT-4 has already been tested to show just how effective it is compared to GPT-3. The OpenAI website says that GPT-4 outperforms ChatGPT in test scores. They have simply made GPT-4 take certain tests, such as the Uniform Bar Exam and Biology Olympiad, to see how well it performs. The result is that GPT-4 outperforms heavily, to a point where it’s both scary and incredibly fascinating.
But even though ChatGPT and GPT-4 especially, is impressive technology, it still comes with limitations. For GPT-4, the limitations are getting smaller but there are still certain things to remember. Some of the limitations that OpenAI is still working on improving include social biases, hallucinations, and adversarial prompts. There’s no doubt that these limitations will be improved with time, but as of right now, those are things to keep in mind when using GPT-4.
